Gaming Tournaments Coordinator
The SMASH! Gaming department is looking for a new Gaming Tournaments Coordinator to assist the Head of Gaming. As a Gaming Tournaments Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for all tournament content and ensuring a smooth operation on the day. The tournament coordinator has the responsibilities of planning multiple tournaments over the 2 day event from prizing, scheduling and signups.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Pre-Event Day Responsibilities:
- Organising tournaments
- Coordinating with the Exhibitors and Sponsors Department for prizes, sponsorship, and stakeholder/community engagement
- Staffing for tournaments
- Tournament advertising e.g. social media, pamphlets etc. in conjunction with the Marketing Department
- Tournament and gaming stage scheduling in collaboration with the Gaming Stage Coordinator and Stage Events Team
- Liaise with Stage Events team and Gaming Stage Coordinator to source an MC for gaming stage
- Liaising with Stage Events Team and Production for stage content (i.e. slides)
Event Days Responsibilities
- Managing tournament staff
- Liaising with stakeholders on the day
- Signups and registration
- Troubleshooting equipment
- Managing attendee expectations
- Gaming stage and tournament area management
- Assist in setup and pack down of gaming area
- Communicating with staff and crew
TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ROLE, YOU MUST:
- Reside in Sydney, Australia
- Easily contactable via Email & Mobile phone
- Proficiency in written English and a clear and friendly writing style
- Require availability for both days of the convention and set up day/s
- Ability to work long hours during the weekend of the event and work with a flexible, fast-paced schedule
- Excellent time management and planning skills
- Gaming knowledge across different mediums and platforms – most importantly the Japanese Gaming Industry
- Friendly community-focused attitude
- Customer service skills
