Software Developer

SMASH! IT is looking for a new Software Developer who will hand in hand with the Marketing department, DPS and IT team members. As a Software Developer, you will be responsible for writing application software, both web-based and client-based ensuring the IT system and SMASH site are fully functional, bug free and easy to navigate behind-the-scenes. The ideal candidate will be reliable, organised, self motivated, highly organised, demonstrates initiative and has exceptional communication and presentation skills whether you work independently or as a team. The candidate is expected to assist the IT Director and Coordinators in management of the SMASH! website and IT-related issues throughout the year and completing other side projects/tasks.

This includes; but is not limited to:

• Writes application software, both web-based and client-based

• To some extent, involved with software, hardware and services procurement

• Advises IT Director and CTO on general and specific technical matters

• Work with others on projects of wider importance to the organisation,

• Adapt to new environments, and collaborate on innovative solutions to new challenges.

• You will also be part of processes to procure additional hardware, services, and software.

• Handling any Software Support and edge cases that may arise.

• Ensuring continued performance and operation of the software.

• Assisting other IT staff and Departments as required.

During the convention:

• Deployment and testing of network infrastructure and equipment.

• Monitoring network performance, diagnosing and responding to any issues.

• Assisting other IT staff as required.

To be considered for the role, your must be: • Proficiency in written English and a clear and friendly writing style are essential.

• Require availability for both days of the convention and set up day

• Reside in Sydney, Australia

• Easily contactable via Email & Mobile phone

• Domain-specific technical knowledge

• Ability to work with other team members and departments to build the best possible applications

• Good understanding of when to say “NO” to the IT Director if something can not be done.

Desirable

• Previous volunteer or customer service experience is desired, but not essential.

• Knowledge and prior experience with Ruby, .net, Drupal, CMS, Javascript, PHP, LAMP web development environment, HTML/CSS, QT, Go, Node.js, React, Angular, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Drupal, Amazon Web Services, Electron.
