The Marketing Director will be responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of brand and marketing strategies for SMASH! and SMASH Inc. You will set and oversee a detailed calendar of activity and marketing strategies to support our brand, and lead a multi-disciplinary marketing team tasked with the application of multi-channel marketing activity.

  • Work together with executive team to develop Marketing Strategies.
  • Develop & implement integrated marketing strategies, ensuring that the brand is marketed in a way which upholds brand values, drives attendee ticket sales, and maximises immediate and future opportunities.
  • Drive the strategic marketing plan, public relations, relevant social media channels, brand collaborations and brand events.
  • Lead, motivate and monitor team members to work in a cohesive manner to achieve the brand vision and direction.
  • Develop an innovative marketing & PR strategy & execution plan for the brand across the full marketing channel mix.
  • Oversee digital marketing strategy, coaching & developing team on email strategy, performance marketing, content, socials, advertising and promotional campaigns, ensuring they achieve goals in line with SMASH! Brand and SMASH! Inc. goals.
  • Report on campaign results.
  • Create, maintain, and regularly engage with internal and external stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS
  • Contactable on a regular basis online and over the phone.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Attend all meetings, workshops and activities as required.
  • Available for convention day(s) in Sydney, Australia.
  • Strong time-management skills.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong creativity.
  • Familiarity with anime, manga, and cosplay culture, including current and upcoming trends.
  • Knowledge or experience in marketing campaigns and implementation.
  • Knowledge of social media and social media trends.
  • Studied or studying Commerce, Marketing, Communications, or similar.
DESIRABLE SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous volunteer or customer service experience is desired, but not essential.
  • Experience in content creation, branding, PR, advertising and communications.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing and reviewing brand strategies that have delivered the desired outcomes within budgets.
  • Previous experience managing social media agencies & brand content.
  • Previous experience overseeing & executing major brand campaigns.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, negotiation and written skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Must be comfortable leading and making decisions despite ambiguity and be able to justify those decisions with well-reasoned, customer-centric strategy and intentions.
