Social Media Assistant

The Social Media Assistant is responsible for managing multiple social media accounts, to create and implement the overall content and marketing strategy and to grow our audience. You must be able to write creatively, connect with the community, and reply to comments on social media posts and should be available on-call for unexpected events or emergencies (within reason). The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge of current trends across all social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, SMASH! app and website, and preferably have experience with paid advertisements.

The Social Media Assistant will be required to, but not limited to:

  • Create content copies that are accurate and appropriate for all SMASH! social media platforms that are in line with the SMASH! brand
  • Update social media calendar as required, including but not limited to creating posts, notifying proofreaders when work is complete, and keeping the calendar document clean and legible.
  • Work together with Attendee Experience Department (Customer Service) to reply to comments on social media posts politely and with correct information.
  • Collaborate with the Creative team to prepare images, photos and videos for social media posts and stories.
  • Think analytically and use their skills to learn and adapt content accordingly to keep ahead of social trends and emerging platforms and take every opportunity to seek growth.
  • Report to Campaign Manager to ensure all tasks are completed.
  • Work closely with Digital Media Coordinator, Campaign Manager, and Marketing Director to create and implement social media campaigns.
  • Work closely with other Social Media Assistants to ensure tasks are completed within the marketing strategy timelines.
  • Schedule social media posts and track them carefully including answering comments throughout the SMASH! event weekend.
  • Work together with other Social Media Assistants to create content across all social media platforms and assist with PA announcements throughout the SMASH! weekend.

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Contactable on a regular basis online and over the phone.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Attend meetings, workshops and activities as required.
  • Available for convention day(s) in Sydney, Australia
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong creativity
  • Copywriting skills
  • Familiarity with anime, manga, and cosplay culture, including current and upcoming trends
  • Knowledge or experience in marketing campaigns and implementation
  • Knowledge of social media and social media trends
DESIRABLE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous volunteer or customer service experience
  • Experience in content creation
  • Studied or studying Commerce, Marketing, Communications, or similar
