As a Stage Assistant in the Production Department, you play a central role, focusing on detailed coordination and smooth operation for assigned stages. Your responsibilities encompass supporting the Stage Manager in on-stage props, handling audio equipment, and providing vital assistance both behind the stage and at the front of house, including cloak room and queue management.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Convention

  • Be available and ready to assist the Stage Coordinators/Managers as directed.

On the Day

  • Aid in the set-up and breakdown of stage equipment, assisting with the assembly and disassembly processes as required.
  • Provide backstage support during live performances, facilitating smooth transitions and ensuring timely availability of props or materials.
  • Assist performers or presenters as needed, coordinating their movement or handling minor stage requirements.
  • Manage queues or lines at entry points, ensuring orderly entry and adherence to event protocols.
  • Oversee the operation of the cloakroom, assisting attendees with item check-in/check-out and maintaining orderliness, if necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with the stage staff to promptly address any unforeseen issues or last-minute needs on stage.

Skills and experience

  • Strong team player. 
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and tasks. 

Availability

  • Contactable on a regular basis upon near convention dates via email and phone.
  • Attendance at staff meetings and ad hoc coordination workshops.
  • Available in person for the convention days.

Qualifications (Desirable)

  • Previous volunteer, event service or stage experience
  • Resourceful and attentive.
